Our Mission

The Church can be a place of profound healing.

Trauma is not a clinical abstraction — it is the lived reality of millions sitting in pews every Sunday. Survivors of abuse, violence, grief, and loss are present in every congregation. The question is not whether your church will encounter trauma. It is whether your church will be equipped to respond with wisdom, safety, and grace.

Becoming trauma-informed means more than learning terminology. It means reshaping how your congregation listens, how your leaders respond, and how your community creates space for the full weight of human suffering — without flinching, without fixing, and without shame.

Shalom Trauma Consulting was founded on the conviction that the Church is uniquely positioned to be a healing community — not despite its theological commitments, but because of them. The language of lament, the practice of presence, the theology of suffering: these are not obstacles to trauma care. They are its foundation.

"The language of lament is not a detour around healing. It is the path through it."
— Shalom Trauma Consulting

Our work is grounded in evidence-based trauma theory and shaped by decades of pastoral ministry. We do not offer a program that replaces clinical care — we equip leaders to create the conditions in which healing becomes possible: safe relationships, honest language, and communities that do not require survivors to minimize their pain in order to belong.

Evidence-Based

Every training and curriculum resource is grounded in current trauma research and clinical best practices — translated for pastoral application.

Theologically Rooted

We work within the Church's own language and tradition, not around it. Theology and trauma science are not in conflict here.

Practically Equipped

Leaders leave with tools they can use immediately — not just awareness, but skills, language, and curriculum.
